Rohit Sharma was born into a Brahmin family in Bansod, Nagpur, Maharashtra. His mother Purnima Sharma was from Visakhapatnam, hence he also knows Telugu language. His father Gurunath Sharma used to work as a caretaker in Storehouse, a transport firm.

But there was not enough income to take care of their education and education along with household expenses. Hence, Rohit Sharma lived in Borivali with his Grandparents and Uncle as a child. 

On Weekend he used to visit his parents, who lived in a single room house in Domvibli. He also has a younger brother. Vishal Sharma, who lived with his parents.
